AFSCME Secretary-Treasurer Lee Saunders helped Council 4 launch the Campaign for the Middle Class on Friday, Jan. 28 in Meriden, CT telling public employees that they are not the cause of the recession.

Connecticut is falling behind. Our economic problems have been building for years as corporations have been prioritized over working families and small businesses. The result has been outsourcing and privatizing of quality jobs and a downward spiral of wages and benefits.
That’s why Council 4 AFSCME is launching the Campaign for the Middle Class, our fight to restore the American Dream for working families.
The key to rebuilding Connecticut is by rebuilding the three pillars that made middle class life attainable: a fair tax structure to fund strong public services, affordable healthcare through the groundbreaking SustiNet platform, and real retirement security for all workers.
